- then add aluminum foil
- warm carefully

Acidly, then add aqueous barium nitrate
Sulfate result (SO4^2-)

Sulfite test (SO3^2-)
Add dilute hydrochloric acid
- warm gently
- test for presence of sulfur dioxide
Sulfite result (SO3^2-)
Sulfur dioxide produced will turn acidified aqueous potassium manganate (Vll) from PURPLE to COLOURLESS
