Verb
A verb refers to an action, event or state. Examples are run, jump, dance and think.
Noun
A noun refers to a person, animal or thing. An example is boy or book.
Adjective
They give us more information about people, animals or things represented by nouns and pronouns. Examples of adjectives are: big, small, blue, old, rich and nice.
Adverb
They give us more information about people, animals or things represented by nouns and pronouns. Examples of adjectives are: big, small, blue, old, rich and nice.
Proper Noun
A proper noun can be defined as a specific and unique name used for an individual person, place, or thing. Proper nouns always begin with capital letters, regardless of their position in a sentence. Examples of proper nouns include people’s names (e.g., John, Mary), specific locations (e.g., London, Mount Everest), and unique entities (e.g., Coca-Cola, the Eiffel Tower).
Pronoun
A pronoun is a word or a group of words that one may substitute for a noun or noun phrase. An example is me or she.
Preposition
A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduce an object.
Conjunction
Conjunctions are words that join together other words or groups of words. For example: or, and, so and for.
Modal verb
Modal verbs show possibility, intent, ability, or necessity. Common examples of modal verbs include can, should, and must.
Imperative verb
Imperative verbs are words used to create an imperative sentence that gives a command to the person being addressed.
