Chapter 1
Conveys a sense of duty to the animals in the idea that their honour depends on their hatred of humanity.

“Beasts of England in Tremendous Unison” Chapter 1
Tremendous suggests the animals have had a massive build up of anger towards Mr Jones and Old Major has enabled this subtlety within the animals

This is an allegory to propaganda as well a subtle threat to them, to accept that Napoleon is in control, furthermore it is an acceptance of new leader ship appreciating it is a way of ordering the other animals
“Bravery is not enough” Chapter 5
Bravery was something that Snowball had as part of his character which Napoleon didn’t, the idea of it being not enough enables Napoleon to use his own characteristics for the animals to believe in. This is an allegory to the falsification of many revolutionaries by Stalin to create his new Soviet Union

It is napoleons way of deterring people expressing there opinion

Boxer is ignorant to the control which the pigs have over him, he is powerful but easily swayed by the pigs this is an allegory for the workers, he isn’t particularly smart so the pigs with their intellect are able to sway him
“Napoleon is always right.” - Chapter 5
Another of Boxers mottos which he uses after Napoleon comes to power shows his ignorance

Chapter 7
The use of simile conveys how the animals are mistreated and are seen as less than the pigs who do not work. It conveys the brutal nature of Russia and how the Leaders abused the workers.
“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig”
Chapter 10
Repetition of ‘pig’ and ‘man’, compared to ‘creatures’ conveys how the pigs are now considered to be different from the rest of the animals. Symbolises the rise of class in soviet society
“Our leader, Comrade Napoleon”
Throughout the novel
The juxtaposition of ‘leader’ and ‘comrade’ conveys to the audience the deceitful nature of the farm and how they use language in order to hide the corruption of the pigs.
The use of an allegory of soviet Russia shows the deceitful nature of the russian communists party.
