After a tragic storm involving the destruction of many properties, the animals find out the windmill had also been caught in the midst of it all. As they did not listen to Snowball’s plans, the windmill collapses in the wind due to the walls being too thin. What was the Hen’s rebellion?

A

After Napoleon’s finances appear to be too costly for the farm, he orders more eggs to be provided in order to provide for their needs. The hens do not want their eggs to be sold. 21

What are the few new technologies that the windmill brought?

A

Hay Elevator
Heating
Automated Milking

22
Q

What is Boxer’s flaw?

A

He is too naive, believing in many of the “causes” of Napoleon and his actions. He believes that his hard work is for the good of everyone and will pay off, thus his saying “I will work harder”. However this causes him to over-work to the point of exhaustion. Boxer lacks the intelligence and the nerve to sense that he is being used as well. Boxer represents the working class, people with great combined strength–enough to overthrow a manipulative government or someone like Napoleon–but are uneducated enough to take propaganda to heart and believe unconditionally in someone’s cause.

23
Q

Who is Boxer (Story/Real Life)?

A

Story- A cart-horse whose incredible strength, dedication, and loyalty play a key role in the early prosperity of Animal Farm. Quick to help but rather slow-witted, Boxer shows much devotion to Animal Farm’s ideals but little ability to think about them independently.
Real Life- The Working Class of the Soviet Union.

24
Q

Who is Mollie (Story/Real Life)?

A

A

Story- A respected boar whose vision of a socialist utopia serves as the inspiration for the Rebellion.
Real Life- The German political economist Karl Marx and the Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin.

26
Q

Who is Benjamin (Story/Real Life)?

A

Story- A donkey who refuses to feel inspired by the Rebellion. Benjamin firmly believes that life will remain unpleasant no matter who is in charge. Of all of the animals on the farm, he alone comprehends the changes that take place, but is unwilling to oppose the pigs. He only really feels the consequences of his actions when Boxer dies.
Real Life- The scholars of Russia who were smart enough to realize what Joseph Stalin was doing but failed to take action.

27
Q

What happens to Boxer near the ladder part of the book?

A

His health starts to fail him due to his older age but still maintains the same workload and was planning to retire later on. This caused him to get injured and in turn was sold off to be slaughtered by the pigs all for some alcohol.

A

Snowball tells the birds to go to other farms and talk with them, to start rebellions.

30
Q

What action that Napoleon announces to the animals that at first makes them question it? (involving to do with money)

A

He announces that the animals would do trade through a solicitor, Mr. Whymper that lived in Willingdon. He primarily acted as an intermediary between Animal Farm and the outside world in matters of communication/transaction. Mr. Whymper represents the capitalist who did business with the Soviet state.

31
Q

What was the purge and its significance?

A

The purge is when Napoleon ruthlessly killed any animal who admitted ( sometimes forced) to be an ally of Snowball with his nine guard dogs. The dogs apparently even try to attack Boxer without any sort of order, however, they were kicked off. This is the first time any animal has been physically harmed, and or killed for that matter, since Mr. Jones’s departure.

32
Q

What does Mr. Fredrick trick Napoleon during their trade and what were the complications involved in selling.

A

When the Napoleon was first trying to sell the timber, whenever one of the farmers were in negotiations with Napoleon the other farmer was taught to be hated. Finally, Napoleon sells it to Pinchfield, but the money Mr. Frederick gave him for the timber is simply a stack of forgeries.

33
