Animal Development Flashcards
What is a Zygote?
Fertilized egg cell. From a female gamete and male sperm.
Meroblastic VS Holoblastic clevage
Meroblastic= incomplete clevage. Where the cytoplasm divides but not the yolk.
Holoblastic= complete cleavage. Divides whole egg into Blastomeres.
What is Blastula?
Sphere shape cells that form during the development of embryo. Created by repeated cleavage production.
What is Blastocoel?
In Blastula stage. A fluid filled cavity.
What is Gastrulation?
When embryo transforms from a one dimesual layer (blastula) into multidimensional structure(gastrula).
What is Archenteron?
Tube like cavity that forms and it’s the primary gut of the embryo
What is Blastopore?
Opening of the embryo that becomes the mouth
What are the embryonic tissues:
Ectoderm?
Mesoderm?
Endoderm?
Germ layers formed in embryonic development.
Ectoderm= outer layer of cell, turns into skin
Mesoderm= middle layer of cell, Ames muscles cells
Endoderm= innermost layer of cell, produces gut and lungs
What is Neurulation?
Process of the neural plate
Neural plate?
The disk that separates the brain and spinal cord
Neural groove?
Grove on the neural plate between NEURAL FOLD and EMBRYO.
Neural fold?
Responsible for the front end of the neural tube
Neural tube?
The central nervous system, brain and spinal cord
Early cleavage?
The separation line of cells.
When it begins to separate.
Looks like a butt
Late cleavage?
Multiple bubble divisions
