Smooth ER
Creates lipids and hormones; transports these things across the cell. It also detoxifies substances harmful for the body.
Lysosomes
Enzymes created by the Golgi body that are used to digest foods and remove useless cells.
Golgi Apparatus
Gathers materials from the ER and packages them for removal from the cell
Vacuole
The storage for food, waste, nutrients, etc.
Mitochondria
The powerhouse of the cell; converts energy through cellular respiration.
Ribosomes
Connects amino acids to build proteins in the cell; needed for normal cell function.
Cytoplasm
The gel-like fluid that suspends organelles in the cell.
Centrioles
Two organelles that work to divide
Rough ER
Protein manufacturing because of ribosomes attached to its surface
Nucleus
The brain of the cell; controls cell activity and it is where the DNA is stored in.
Nucleolus
Makes ribosomes for the ER
Cell membrane
Determines what goes in/out of the cell; provides protection for the cell.
Vesicles
Small sacs that transport materials around; eventually fuses with the cell membrane.
Cell wall
Made of cellulose; tougher than the cell membrane.
Chloroplast
Makes plants green; produces food by undergoing photosynthesis.
