Animal and Plant cells Flashcards
What is a Prokayotic cell?
A cell without a nucleus
What is a Eukaryotic cell?
A cell with a nucleus
What is the function of Mitochiondria?
Where aerobic respiration takes place and releases energy for the cell
What is the function cell membrane?
Controls what enters and leaves the cell
What is the function of the nucleus?
Contains genes and controls the activities in the cell
What is the function of cytoplasm?
A jelly-like substance where chemical reactions take place
What is the function of ribosomes?
a site of proteins synthesis
What is the function of chloroplast?
Contains chlorophyll and is where photosynthesis takes place
What is the function of permeable vacuole?
Contains cell sap which is a mixture of salts and sugars
What is the function of cell wall?
Contains cellouse and supports the cell
What type of cell is a plant and animal cell?
Eukaryotic cells
what type of cell is a bateria cell?
Prokaryotic cells
What three cell structures are found only in plant cells and not in animal cells?
Permanet vacuole,Rigid cell wall,Chloroplast
What cell struture is responsible for making protiens?
Ribosomes
List the structures found in an animal cell?
cell membrane,ribosme,nucleus,mitochondria,cytoplasm,
List the structures found in a plant cell?
large permanet vacuole,Rigid cell wall,Chloroplasts,nucleus,cell membrane,ribosome,mitochondria,cytoplasm
What is the difference between a eukaryotic cell and prokaryotic cells?
Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus and prokaryotic cells have no nucleus
Why is the nucleus and mitochondria are so important in all cells?
The nucleus controls the cell and contains genes that can create new cell or new organisms and Mitochondria is the site of aeorbic respiration and releases eneregy for the cell. They both also contain DNA
List all the structures that could be found in a baterial cell?
Nucleiod(DNA),Plasmids,Flagellum,cytoplasm,cell wall,ribosmes
What is the function of a plasmid?
Carry genes to replicate their DNA
What is the function of flagellum?
Helps the bateria cell move
Where is DNA found in a bateria cell?
Nucleiod
