Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Scale Flashcards
complementary angles
Two angles that sum to 90 degrees.
supplementary angles
Two angles that sum to 180 degrees.
vertical angles
two angles formed by the intersection of two lines. They are always congruent.
adjacent angles
Two angles next to each other; they share both a side and a vertex.
acute angle
an angle less than 90 degrees
right angle
an angle of exactly 90 degrees
obtuse angle
An angle greater than 90 degrees (but less than 180 degrees)
straight angle
An angle equal to 180 degrees.
Congruent
Has the same measure.
acute triangle
A triangle with all acute angles
obtuse triangle
A triangle with 1 obtuse angle
right triangle
a triangle with 1 right angle
equiangular triangle
a triangle with 3 congruent angles
scalene triangle
a triangle with no congruent sides
isosceles triangle
a triangle with two congruent sides
equilateral triangle
a triangle with 3 congruent sides
quadrilateral
a polygon with four sides
trapezoid
a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides
kite
a quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent adjacent sides and opposite sides that are not congruent.
parallelogram
a quadrilateral with opposite sides that are parallel and congruent
rectangle
A parallelogram with four right angles
rhombus
a parallelogram with four congruent sides
square
a parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles.
scale
A ratio that compares the measurements of a drawing or model with the actual measurements. It includes units.
scale factor
A scale without units. (All units are the same).
scale drawing
a proportional, two-dimensional drawing of an object.
scale model
A proportional, three-dimensional drawing of an object.
