Angles Flashcards
parallel
lines that will never cross and are the same distance apart and may go on forever (will not cross if they go on & on)
arc
part of a circle that represents an angle between 2 intersecting lines
angles
when lines intersect, they form angles and angles are the spaces or shapes that are formed between the intersecting lines-they meet at a vertex
perpendicular
lines that form square corners when they intersect-they form right angles
right angles
lines that form it are perpendicular and the angle measures 90*
intersection
when lines cross at a point-called an intersection
acute angles
angles that are less than a right angle, less than 90*
obtuse angles
angles greater than a right angle, greater than 90*
straight angle
straight line-2 rays pointing in opposite directions
complementary angles
2 angles that form a right angle are called complementary angles
supplementary angles
two angles combine to form a straight angle
vertex
the point where 2 rays meet
congruent
having the same measure
degrees
a measurement used to measure angles (small amount)
protractor
a tool that measures angles
