Angle Vocabulary Flashcards
Parallel
Lines that will never cross and are the same distance apart and may go on forever (lines will not cross if they go on and on)
Arc
Part of a circle that represents an angle between two intersecting lines
Angles
when lines intersect they form angles and angles are the spaces or shapes that are formed between the intersecting lines- they meet a vertex. Name angles by names of points
Perpendicular
lines that form square corners when they intersect, they form right angles
Right Angles
lines that form it are perpendicular and the angles measure 90 degrees
Intersection
when lines cross they cross at a point called the intersections
Acute angles
angles that are less than a right angle; less than 90 degrees
Obtuse angles
angles greater than a right angle; greater than 90 degrees
Straight angle
a straight line- two rays pointing in the opposite directions and it equals 180 degrees
Complementary angle
two angles that form a right angle are called complementary angles = 90 degrees
Supplementary angles
two angles combine to form a straight angle = 180 degrees
Vertex
the point where two rays meet
Congruent
having the same measurement
Degrees
a measurement used to measure angles
Protractor
a tool that measures angles
