Angle Vocabulary Flashcards
Parallel
Lines that will never cross and are the same distance apart and may go on forever ( lines will not cross if they go on and on ).
Arc
Part of a circle that represents an angle between two intersecting lines.
Angles
When lines intersect they form angles and angles are the spaces or shapes that are formed between the intersecting lines - they meet at a vertex. Name angles by names of points.
Perpendicular
Lines that form square corners when they intersect, they form right angles.
Right Angles
Lines that form it are perpendicular and the angles measure 90 degrees.
Intersection
When lines cross they cross a point called the intersection.
Acute Angles
Angles that are less than a right angle; less than 90 degrees.
Obtuse Angles
Angles that are greater than a right angle; greater than 90 degrees.
Straight Angle
A straight line - two rays pointing in the opposite direction and it equals 180 degrees.
Complementary Angles
Two angles that form a right angle are called complementary angles = 90 degrees.
Supplementary Angles
Two angles combine to form a straight angle = 180 degrees.
Vertex
The point where two rays meet.
Congruent
Having the same measurement.
Protracter
A tool that measures angles.
Degrees
A measurement used to measure angles.
