Angels Flashcards
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.
Heb 13:2
Angels aren’t people
You made him a little[1] lower than the angels;
you crowned him with glory and honor
Heb. 2:7
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
Col 1:16-19
Angels aren’t like God
Not Omnipresent: The angel answered, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news.
Lk. 1:19
Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.
Dan 10:12-13
Angels are not all knowing
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
1 Pet 1:12
“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[6] but only the Father.
Mt. 24:36
These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
Col 2:17-19
Angels take various forms
They can look like men
Gen 18-19
“After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai.
Acts 7:30
In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds,
his servants flames of fire.”[5]
Heb. 1:7
As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
2 Kings 2:11
And Elisha prayed, “O LORD , open his eyes so he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 King 6:17
Num 22:21 Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab.
Num 22:22 But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.
Num 22:23 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her to get her back on the road.
Num 22:24 Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two vineyards, with walls on both sides.
Num 22:25 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD , she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam’s foot against it. So he beat her again.
Num 22:26 Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.
Num 22:27 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD , she lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat her with his staff.
Num 22:28 Then the LORD opened the donkey’s mouth, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?”
Num 22:29 Balaam answered the donkey, “You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.”
Num 22:30 The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”
“No,” he said.
Num 22:31 Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.
Num 22:32 The angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me. [3]
Num 22:33 The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her.”
Num 22:34 Balaam said to the angel of the LORD , “I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.”
Num 22:35 The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
Num 22:21-35
Dan 10:7 I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; the men with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.
Dan 10:8 So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless.
Dan 10:9 Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.
Dan 10:10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.
Dan 10:11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.
