A
- decreased number of circulating RBCs
- reduced PCV
- reduced HB

Regenerative vs Nonregenerative bone marrow response
A
Regenerative: Bone marrow is responsive and increases RBC production/releases immature RBC into peripheral blood
Nonregenerative: Bone marrow unable to respond; reticulocytes absent; suggest bone marrow dysfunction

Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia

Two main forms of AIHA found in dogs are…
A
- Hemolytic anemia unaccompanied by any coexisting disease
- Hemolytic anemia accompanied by thrombocytopenia (Rare; ~1/3 of cases are this type)
