To learn the words
Cosmology
The science of the origin and development of the universe.
Universe
The Universe is all of space and time.
Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory is the leading explanation about how the universe began.
Emission Spectrum
The spectrum of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by a source.
Spectrometer
A apparatus used for recording and measuring spectra, especially as a method of analysis.
Wavelength
The distance between successive crests of a waves.
Frequency
Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time.
Expansion
The action of becoming larger.
Contraction
The process of becoming smaller.
Galaxy
A system of millions or billions of stars that have gas and dust that are attracted by gravity’s pull.
Interstellar Cloud
An interstellar cloud is generally an accumulation of gas, plasma, and dust in our and other galaxies.
Red Shift
The displacement of spectral lines toward longer wavelengths (But in this case it is the red side) in radiation from distant galaxies and celestial objects.
Blue Shift
The displacement of the spectrum to shorter wavelengths.
Doppler Effect
A increase or decrease in the frequency of sound, light, or other types of waves when they move towards or away from each other.
Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation
Newton’s law of universal gravitation states that every particle attracts every other particle in the universe.
