a Greek historian who wrote stories about the Persian Wars. Father of History and First Historian
Herodotus
Greek philosopher. Student of Socrates. Known for theories on Forms known as Platonism. Wrote a dialogue called “The Republic”
Plato
Greek philosopher and mathematician. Known as the inventor of dialectic. Known for his paradoxes that contributed to development of logical and mathematical rigor. Balance of emotions.
Zeno
A Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer, and inventor. Known for the Archimedes screw. Well-known for inventions and discoveries
Archimedes
Greek tragedian. Best known for his play Oedipus the king (uses dramatic devices)
Sophocles
A Greek lyric poet from Thebes. Known for celebrating victories from different games (Olympic Games?), writing choral odes
Pindar
A Greek playwright and comedy writer. Father of Comedy. Best known for his representation of Greek comedy. His work has been preserved
Aristophanes
Made Athens into full democracy. (Increased power full democracy, new council of 500 districts, and a citizen could be killed in threantening)
Cleisthenes
One of Athens best statesman. Brought Athens into its Golden Age
Pericles
Philips son. Believed to be weak. Wanted to spread Greek culture and rule the world. Won many battles against the Persians and Darius III. Took the throne in Babylon. Conquered Egypt and founded Alexandria.
Alexander the Great
Greek politician and lawmaker. Elected to make reforms and avoid being overthrown by a tyrant. Made political changes and economical reforms.

A Greek historian and general who documented 30 years of war and tension between Athens and Sparta. War documentations. Many debates for the war
