Life in Athens and Sparta
Which feature of Athens’s geography most affected its economy and how?
Athens is near the ocean and their economy was trading.
What was the primary focus of life in Sparta?
The main focus in Sparta was to build a strong military.
Compare the education systems of Athens & Sparta
Athens: Only boys go to school. Girls learn from their moms how to do household chores.
Sparta: Girls and boys go to school. Boys go to school from age 7 - 14. After that they start military training. Girls would probably be taught by their mother.
Compare the rights for women of Athens & Sparta
Athens: woman had less rights than Sparta. They would have arranged marriages.
Sparta: Women had more rights. ( they could own their own property, they were allowed to remarry if husband off at war for too long)

What was the outcome of the Battle of Marathon?
The Greeks won, because they had better military strategy and better equipment.
What happened at the Battle of Thermopylae?
The Persians won, because a Greek traitor showed the Persians a secret path.
Why was the Battle of Plataea important?
The Battle of Plataea was important, because it was the final battle. Greece won!
Which factor best explains why the Greeks won the Greco-Persian Wars?
Greece won the Greco-Persian wars because they had clever military strategies. Some examples are that at the Battle of Marathon their strategy was to surprise attack the Persians which worked since Greece won. At the Battle of Salamis their strategy was to send a messenger to the Persians and say that they would surrender if they came passed them at the Aegean Sea. The Persians thought it was true, but the Greeks rammed into their boats and the Persians ships sunk and the Greeks won! All of this evidence is why the Greeks won the Greco-Persian War.
