They were isolated because of the mountains and water forms separating them

It was difficult because there wasn’t a lot of good farmland, since there are a lot of mountains & there wasn’t alot of water

A polis is a city-state and Greece’s geography influenced the creation of a Poleis because they were isolated from each other by the mountains

Sailing allowed them to travel to other islands and trade goods for goods

Pottery, Wine, & Olive Oil

The ships were bad out of wood and the sails were out of large rectangular cloths
Why were Greek ships considered to be slow?
The ships were considered to be slow since the boats were built for space for goods instead of speed

No, it wasn’t because they didn’t have any charts or compasses to tell direction so they didn’t know which direction to travel to

The major crops they grew were olives & grapes
What animals did most Ancient Greeks raise?
They mostly raised sheep & goats
Why did Greek communities start colonies?
They started colonies because they didn’t have enough farmland & and since the Greek communities populations were growing
What were three things the Greeks looked for in potential sites for a colony?
They looked to see if the place was away from locals, also areas with natural harbors, & a place with good farmland
