Emperor Qin:
First ruler of the Qin Dynasty, built a small section of the Great Wall. Ordered the creation of over 8,000 clay warriors, horses, and chariots to escort him into the afterlife.
Terracotta Soldiers
Over 8,000 clay warriors, horses, and chariots in emperor Qin’s tomb, supposed to protect him in the afterlife.
Oracle Bones
Used to tell the future and connect with the gods. It was said to provide dates, names, records of wars, natural phenomena, ect.
Ancestor Worship
The Shang practices this, it was said that worshiping your ancestors provides good fortune and is a way to show respect towards ancestors who have died.
Xiongnu
Mongols that lived beyond China’s northern border and fought China often.
Hang-t’u
The method of building walls used by the Chin and Han dynasty to built the original Wall of China. The wall was made of mud and sticks and used to keep out Mongols.
Mandate of Heaven (Tianming)
It was believed that whoever the king of China was at the time was in contact with the gods and was to keep peace between heaven and Earth.
Feudalism
The government split up the land and gave it to landowners to farm and in return the landowners paid the government taxes.
