They believed the king should be served in the afterlife.

What are oracle bones?
Oracle bones are bones the king used to seek advice from their ancestors. These bones had a hot needle pressed against it, and the way the bone cracked would mean something. The bones were made of a turtle shell or shoulder blade of a cow.
What are two examples of artwork during the Shang Dynasty?
bronze vessels, and items made of jade.
