Anatomy - shoulder/upper extremity Flashcards
Origin and insertion of deltoid
O: Spine of scapula, acromion, lateral 1/3 of clavicle
I: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Action, innervation, and blood supply of deltoid
A: anterior portion- flexes and internally rotates arm. Middle portion - abducts arm beyond 15 degrees
posterior portion - extends and laterally rotates arm
I: Axillary nerve (C5, C6)
BS: posterior circumflex humeral artery
Origin and insertion of supraspinatus
O: Supraspinous fossa of scapula and deep fascia
I: greater tubercle of humerus
Action, innervation, and blood supply of supraspinatus
A: 1st 15% of abduction of arm
I: suprascapular n. (C4-C6)
BS: suprascapular a.
Origin and insertion of infraspinatus
O: infraspinous fossa of scapula
I: greater tubercle of humerus
Action, innervation, and blood supply of infraspinatus
A: external rotation of arm
I: suprascapular n. (C5-C6)
BS: suprascapular a.
Origin and insertion of teres minor
O: posterolateral border of scapula
I: greater tubercle of humerus
Action, innervation, and blood supply of teres minor
A: external rotation of arm
I: axillary n. (C5-C6)
BS: circumflex scapular a.
Origin and insertion of subscapularis
O: subscapular fossa
I: lesser tubercle of humerus
Action, innervation, and blood supply of subscapularis
A: holds humeral head to glenoid cavity, internally rotates arm, adducts arm
I: upper and lower subscapular n. (C5-C7)
BS: subscapular a./lateral thoracic artery
Origin and insertion of teres major
O: posteroinferior angle of scapula
i: intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Action, innervation, and blood supply of teres major
A: adducts and internally rotates arm
i: lower subscapular n. (C5-C6)
BS: circumflex scapular a.
