Anatomy Review-- some Buck, some Kaplan Flashcards
T/F, the organs are inside the peritoneal cavity
false, they are in the abdominal cavity. The only thing inside the peritoneal cavity is serous fluid
the ventral mesentery obliterates in every area except that of
the liver
all mesenteries attached to the liver are defined as
ventral mesentery
What’s inside the mesentery?
vessels, nerves, lymphatics
The celiac artery divides into…
splenic (givess of short gastric arteries and let gastro-omental artery, which anastomoses with the right gastro-omental artery),
left gastric,
common hepatic (goes to liver, gall bladder, lesser curvature of the stomach, greater curvature of the stomach, head and neck of the pancreas, and proximal part of the duodenum
A pt undergoes a cholecystectomy, during which the arterial supply to the gallbladder must be ligated. Within which peritoneal structure is this arterial supply most likely to be found?
Hepatoduodenal ligament.
= the portion of the lesser omentum that connects the liver to the first part of hte duodenum. Within this are the proper hepatic artery and its branches, the common bile duct and its branches, and the portal vein.
falciform ligament
mesentery that connects the liver to the anterior abdominal wall. Within the free edge of this is the round ligament of the liver, the adult remnant of the umbilical vein.
Gastrocolic ligament
the portion of the greater omentum between the greater curvature of hte stomach and the transverse colon. Contains the gastroepiploic (gastro-omental) vessels.
Gastrohepatic ligament
portion of the lesser omentum between the liver and the lesser curvature of the stomach. The right and left gastric vessels are wtihin it along the lesser curvature of the stomach.
Splenorenal ligament
mesentery that connects the spleen to the posterior abdominal wall. The splenic artery and splenic vein are within the splenorenal ligament, along with the tail of the pancreas
Above vs Below the pectinate line
Above: Visceral (ANS) sensory innervation, portal venous drainage, drain to iliac lymph nodes, internal hemorrhoids (painless), endoderm
Below: somatic sensory innervation, caval venous drainage, drain to superficial inguinal nodes, external hemorrhoids (painful), ectoderm
