Anatomy review Flashcards
General purpose of the Circulatory system
Help tissues get enough oxygen and nutrients along with getting rid of waste products
General purpose of the Respiratory system
Move fresh air into the body while removing wasteful gasses
General purpose of the Digestive system
Break nutrients down so the body can absorb and use for energy, growth and cell repair
General purpose of excretory Urinary system
Filter blood and create urine as a waste by product
General purpose of the Nervous system
Transmits signals between the brain and the rest of the body
Purpose of the lungs and which system it belongs to
Lungs help transport air and remove wasteful gasses, it belongs to the circulatory system
Purpose of the nose and the system it belongs to
The nose allows air to enter the body and filter debris, it belongs to the circulatory system
Purpose of the diaphragm and which system it belongs to
The diaphragm helps pull air into the lungs like a vacuum
Purpose of the liver and which system it belongs to
The liver processes nutrients and it belongs to the digestive system
Purpose of the gallbladder and which system it belongs to
The gallbladder stores bile from the liver and it belongs to the digestive system
Purpose of the mouth and which system it belongs to
The mouth chews food and it belongs to the digestive system
purpose of the esophagus and the system it belongs to
the esophagus receives the food and helps prevent choking
Purpose of the stomach and which system it belongs to
The stomach holds food and breaks it down further, it belongs to the digestive system
Purpose of the small intestine and which system it belongs too
The small intestine takes food from the stomach and continues to break it down, it’s from the digestive system
Purpose of the large intestine and which system it belongs too
The large intestine absorbs salt and water and other material not yet digested and gets rid of the waste left over, it’s apart of the digestive system
Purpose of the anus and which system it belongs too
The anus allows for waste to exit the body, it’s apart of the digestive system
Purpose of the pancreas and which system it belongs too
The pancreas has digestive enzymes to help break down proteins, fats, and carbs
Purpose of the kidneys and which system it belongs too
The kidneys remove waste products and drugs from the body and release hormones to regulate blood pressure and control the production of red blood cells, the kidney belongs to the excretory urinary system.
Purpose of the sphincter and which system it belongs to
The sphincter helps to keep urine from leaking and it’s apart of the excretory urinary system
Purpose of the ureters and which system it belong too
The ureters carry urine to the bladder, they belong to the excretory urinary system
Purpose of the bladder and which system it belongs too
The bladder stores and releases urine, it belongs to the excretory urinary system
Purpose of the urethra and which system it belongs too
The urethra allows for urine to pass outside the body, it belongs to the excretory urinary system
Purpose of the brain and which system it belongs too
The brain controls thoughts, memory, perception, hunger, touch, motor skills, breathing, and it belongs to the nervous system
Purpose of the spinal cord and which system it belongs too
Spinal cord sends motor commands from the brain to the body and from the body to the brain, it belongs to the nervous system
