Anatomy & Physiology Flashcards
To learn the basics of anatomy and physiology in PSK4U
What are the key features of an anatomical position?
A person is upright in standing position
Feet are in natural position
Eyes, face and hands are facing front
Forearms are fully supinated and palms are facing forward
Name a bone that is superior to the mandible
The skull is superior to the mandible
What does the term anterior refer to? Please provide an example using the word.
Anterior refers to the side closer to the front.
- The nose is anterior to the ears
Is the elbow lateral or distal to the shoulder in anatomical position? Explain.
The elbow is distal to the shoulder in an anatomical position. Because the elbow is further away from the point of attachment (the shoulder).
What does the term anterior refer to? Please provide an example using the word.
Anterior refers to the side closer to the front.
An example would be the chest being anterior to the spine

diaphragm to lungs
Diaphragm is inferior to lungs
ankle to toe
Ankle is proximal to toe
head to neck
Head is superior to neck
esophagus to vertebral column
