Anatomy: Pelvis Flashcards
What makes up the pelvic cavity?
hip bones anterior laterally and sacrum post.
What composes the pelvic brim?
pelvic inlet/sup. pelvic aperture
What divides the pelvic cavity into two parts?
pelvic brim via:
1) Ture (lesser pelvis)
2) False (greater) pelvis which is continuos with the abdom cavity
At what spinal level does the pelvic cavity start?
L3 and below
What are the components of the Superior pelvic aperture? What does it separate?
1) sacral promontory
2) ant. border of sacral ala
3) Terminal line: (arucate line; iliopubic eminence/iline); pecten of the pubis
4) pubic symphysis
- - separates the true and false pelvis
What type of joint is the SI joint?
synovial planar / gliding jt
What type of joint is the symphysis pubis?
secondary synchondrosis jt b/c bodies of pubic bones
- articular surface covered with hyaline with layer of fibrocartilage b/w
What are the 7 lig that attach to the pelvis?
1) Ant sacro iliac
2) post sacro iliac (strongest lig in body very hard to cut it)
3) sacro-spinous
4) Sacro-tuberouse
5) ilio-lumbar (L4-ilium)
6) ant longitudinal
7) interosseous sacro-iliac
What is the O/I/N/F of levator ani?
ORI: post surface of sup ramus of pubis (puborectalis and pubococcygeous); inner surface of spine of ischium; and b/w these two points, from the tendinous arch of obturator fascia (ilioccygeous)
INS: most post fibers to coccyx; ant unite with muscle of opposite side; middle side of rectum
N: S4
FUN: constricts lower end of rectum and vagina. elevates lower end of rectum
What is the OINF of coccygeus?
ORI: spine of ischium
INS: coccyx
N: S4-5
What nerve controls the: superficial transverse perinea; bulbospongiousus; ischocav; deep transverse perinei
Pudendal nerve (L4-S2)
