Anatomy + Histology Flashcards
Larynx Location
Between pharynx and trachea, 3-6th cevical vertebrae
Sole Abductor of Vocal Folds
Posterior cricoarytenoid muscle
Laryngeal a.s
Superior and inferior, give large blood supply to thyroid
Pseudostratified
Multiple layers, but all touch basement membrane
Trachea Cartilage
Horseshoe structure open posteriorly - trachialis muscle (smooth) fills in back
Lung/Pleural Costal Levels
Lung goes from about 8th rib (laterally) to 6th (at sternum), but pleura extends all the way to 10th
Pulmonary Artery
Follows bronchi at about equivalent thickness
Bronchopulmonary Segment
Pyramidal portion of lung aerated and blood supplied by 1 tertiary bronchus/pulmonary a. (theoretically could remove isolated)
10 Segments of R Lung (& important note about 1)
Upper lobe: Superior, anterior, posterior
Middle: Lateral and medial (touches R heart border, important for imaging)
Lower: Superior above, and then ant/lat/post/medial on hepatic surface
8 Segments of L Lung
Upper: Apicoposterior, anterior
Lingula (still upper): Sup and inf
Lower: Superior, anteromedial, posterior, lateral
Bronchi Structure (4)
Smooth muscle completely surrounds, with cartilage plates so can be contracted and reduce lumen. Folding of mucosa bc airway changes diameter during breathing cycle. Alveoli around bronchus - very important
Epithelium as travel down airway (3)
PSCC until bronchiole, ciliated simple columnar, then ciliated simple cuboidal in terminal and respiratory bronchiole
Alveolar Pores of Kohn
True holes b/w 2 alveoli allowing for ventilation b/w alveoli
Lamellar Bodies
In Type II cells to manufacture surfactant and shit
Dust Cells
Macs in lung
