Anatomy And Phisology Flashcards
What are the structural organisation?
- Chemical - atoms
- Cellular - molecules
- Tissue - cells form together
- Organs - made up of different types of tissues
- Organ systems
- Organisational - the whole human body
How many body systems are there
11
What are all the body systems
- Integumentary
- Skeletal integumentary
- Skeletal
- Muscular
- Nervous system
- Endocrine
- Cardiovascular
- Lymphatic
- Respiratory
- Urinary
- Reproductive
What does the body need to survive?
- Oxygen
- Water
- nutrients/food
- Body Temperature (approx 37°c)
- Atmospheric Pressure
What is homeostasis?
Physiological process that keeps the internal environment of a living organism stable and balanced.
What are the main components to maintain homeostasis?
- Control centre
- Effector
- Receptor
What is negative feedback?
When the body will do whatever it needs to fix whatever is making the body not homeostasis
For example - you eat too much sugar so you’re body needs to flush it out of the blood
What is positive feedback?
When you’re body will increase the original stimulus in order to push the variable further
Example - the body will help push the baby out when in labour in order to return back to homeostasis after the baby is born
What are the anatomical planes?
- Frontal plane - divides the body into anterior and exterior (front and back)
- Sagittal plane - divides the body into left and right
- Transverse plane - divides the body into top and bottom
What are the body quadrants?
- Right upper quadrant
- Left upper quadrant
- Right lower quadrant
- Left lower quadrant
What are the body captivities?
- Cranial cavity
- Thoracic cavity
- Abdominal cavity
- Pelvic cavity
