Anatomy Flashcards
larynx innervation
SENSORY:
-vagus –> superior laryngeal –> internal laryngeal above vocal folds
-recurrent laryngeal below
MOTOR:
-external laryngeal to cricothyroid m.
-recurrent laryngeal to all other muscles
larynx blood supply
ext. carotid –> sup. thyroid a. –> sup. laryngeal a.
subclavian –> thyrocervical trunk –> inf. thyroid a. –> inf. laryngeal a.
larynx lymphatic drainage
above vocal folds: upper deep cervical
below vocal folds: lower deep cervical or paratracheal
cartilage on top of arytenoid
corniculate cartilage
What cartilage is in the quadrangular membrane, stiffening it?
cuneiform cartilages
synovial joints of larynx, function
1) cricothyroid joints: inf. thyroid horn –> cricoid. Allow thyroid to tip relative to cricoid.
2) cricoarytenoid joint: arytenoid –> sup. surface of posterior cricoid. Allows sliding (ab/adduction) and rotation around vertical axis, opening and closing the rima glottidis
quadrangular (aryepiglottic) membrane
top forms aryepiglottic fold
bottom are free edges (vestibular ligament/fold)
cricovocal (crycothyroid) ligament forms _________
vocal ligament at free top edge
space between true and false vocal chords
ventricle
vocal chord abductor
posterior cricoarytenoid
vocal chord adductors, function
1) lateral cricoartenoid rotates vocal process medially
2) transverse and oblique arytenoid muscles, slide arytenoids together
vocal chord lengthener
cricothyroid muscle
