Anatomy Flashcards
What are the layers of the pericardium?
Fibrous pericardium - tough outer layer
Serous pericardium, divided into
1. Visceral serous pericardium - touches the heart
2. Parietal serous pericardium - touches the fibrous pericardium
A pericardial cavity lies between these two.
Epicardium = serous pericardium
What is the transverse pericardial sinus?
A space within the pericardial cavity - lies posterior to the aorta and pulmonary trunk. Finger will poke out anterior to the SVC
What is the coronary sinus?
A venous conduit which receives deoxygenated blood from most of the cardiac veins and drains directly into the right atrium
In the atria, what divides the smooth from rough part?
Crista terminalis
What is the closed hole between the right and left atria?
Foramen ovale (oval fossa)
Which valves are leaflet and which are semi-lunar?
Leaflet - tricuspid and mitral
Semilunar - pulmonary and aortic
How many cusps do the heart valves have?
All but the mitral (two) have three
What nerves give the tongue sensation?
Anterior 2/3rds - General - CN V3 - Special - CN VII Posterior 1/3 - General and sensory reply - CN IX
