Anatomy Flashcards
What is the mean carrying angle of the elbow in full extension?
11-14*
What is the angle of the interosseous membrane from the radius to the ulna? And what is its role after excision of the radial head?
It is angled dismally at a 21 degree angle.
The central band is 1.5-2 CN wide and is responsible for 71% of the IOM stiffness after radial head excision.
During CKC UE exercises, how much weight is transmitted through the elbow?
60% radiocapitellar joint
40% ulnohumeral joint
Greatest force between 0-30* of flexion
What is the primary elbow flexor?
Brachialis but brachioradialis has the longest lever arm
What is the primary pronator?
Pronator quadratus
Pronator teres activity increase with speed and resistance
What is the primary supinator?
With slow movements the supinator will act independently but with any resistance or speed the biceps is the big mover.
How does forearm position effect MMT for flexion of the elbow?
Neutral - brachioradialis
Pronated - minimizes biceps
Brachialis is not effected by forearm position

At what age is ossification of the elbow complete?
12- the lateral epicondyle is the last to ossify
