Anatomy Flashcards
Which spinal sections have the most grey matter and why?
Cervical and Lumbar as this is where the legs and arms are
Which spinal section has the least white matter and why?
Sacral as most of the neurons have come off.
What part of the brain is the sensory seive for the tracts?
Thalamus
What are the three neurons for spinothalamic
- To spine
- decussation to thalamus
- thalamus to sensory cortex
What are the three neurons for dorsal columns?
- To medulla
- crossing medulla to thalamus
- to sensory cortex
What are the three sensory tracts?
Spinothalamic - Pain and temp
Dorsal columns - soft touch, vibration, proprioreption
spinocerebellar - to cerebellum about joint perception
What are the motor tracts?
Corticospinal
4 subconscious
What are the main subconcious tracts?
Vestibulospinal - from inner ear to monitor head position
Tectospinal - sudden movements and loud noises
Reticulospinal - eyes
Rubrospinal - flexor and extensor muscles
What is the main corticospinal tract?
Lateral, not anterior
What does the pons and medullary pyramid look like?
Label the following parts of the midbrain:
- cerebral aquaduct
- red nucleus
- substantia nigra
- crus cerebri
- CNIII nucleus
