ANATOMY Flashcards
INJURY OF MUSCULOCUTANEUS NERVE
(GUNSHOT INJURY TO AXILLA)
WEAKNESS OF FLEXION AND SUPINATION OF FOREARM.LOSS OF SENSATION TO THE THE LATERAL FOREARM.
CARDIAC VALVES AUSCULTATION
Tricuspid valve - Posterior to right half of sternum at level of 4th ICS - Left of sternum near 5TH ICS
Mitral valve - Posterior to left half of sternum at level of 4th costal cartilage - Left 5th ICS in midclavicular line
Pulmonary valve - Posterior to third left chondrosternal joint - Medial end of left 2nd ICS
Aortic valve - Posterior to left half of sternum at level of 3rd ICS - Medial end of right second ICS
Medial rectus muscle action on eyeball
Adduction(medial rotation)
Movements of eyeball
Elevation Moving pupil superiorly Superior rectus and inferior oblique
Depression Moving pupil inferiorly Inferior rectus and superior oblique
Abduction Moving pupil laterally Lateral rectus
Adduction Moving pupil medially Medial rectus
Medial rotation (intorsion) Rotating upper part of pupil medially towards nose Superior oblique
Lateral rotation (extorsion) Rotating upper part of pupil laterally towards temple. Inferior oblique
Orbital muscles and innervation
Superior rectus,inferior rectus,medial rectus,inferior oblique - Oculomotor nerve
Lateral rectus. - Abducens nerve
Superior oblique. - Trochlear nerve
Common fibular nerve(common peroneal nerve) L4-S2 innervation
(CPN is a branch of sciatic nerve)
Motor - Short head of the biceps femoris muscle(only motor branch arising from CPN)
Sensory - Skin over the upper lateral leg
Motor loss - Foot drop,Loss of dorsiflexion of ankle and foot eversion, weakness of foot inversion, loss of toe extension
Branches of common peroneal nerve
Muscular branch, sural communicating nerve, lateral sural cutaneous nerve, superficial peroneal nerve(supply lateral compartment of leg),deep peroneal nerve(supply anterior compartment of leg)
Rectus femoris muscle supplied by and action
Femoral nerve
(Flexion at the hip and extension at the knee)
Femoral nerve sensory supply
Skin over the anterior thigh, anteromedial knee, medial leg and medial foot
Genito femoral nerve formation and innervation
Anterior rami of L1 and L2
Innervates the male cremaster muscle and supplies skin over the genitalia
Orbicularis oculi muscle
Innervation-facial nerve(closes the eyelids)
Blockage and inflammation of tarsal gland
Chalazion
Medial longitudinal arch
Spring ligament, deltoid ligament, plantar aponeurosis, tendons of tibialis anterior and tibialis posterior ligaments
Eyelid muscles
Upper - levator palpebrae superioris
Superior rectus
Superior tarsus
Lower - rectus inferior
Inferior tarsus
Lateral longitudinal arch
Plantar aponeurosis, fibularis longus tendon, long and short plantaris tendon
Tumour in uncinate process of pancreas cause compression of which structure
Superior mesenteric artery
Primary arterial supply to the pancreas
Splenic artery from the coeliac trunk, branches from gastroduodenal artery, superior mesenteric artery
Venous drainage
Head of the pancreas - pancreaticuduodenal veins into superior mesenteric veins and portal vein
Body and tail of pancreas - pancreatic veins into the splenic vein
Portal triad
Portal arteriole(branch of hepatic artery)
Portal venule (branch of hepatic portalvein)- union of superior mesenteric and splenic vein)
Bile duct
The superior tarsal muscle is a collection of smooth muscle fibres in companion with the levator palpebrae superioris, innervated by postganglionic sympathetic fibres from the superior cervical ganglion
Levator palpebrae superioris
