anatomy Flashcards
what are the medial and the lateral joints of the clavicle called ?
lateral : acromioclavicular joint
medial : sternoclavicular joint
what is the name of the ligament that connects the caraciod process and the acrimonious process forming the subacromial space.
coracoacromial ligament
the superior surface of the scapula corresponds to which rib ?
the second
the spine of the scapula corresponds to which rib ?
the third
the inferior angle of the scapula corresponds to which rib ?
the seventh
is the costal tuberosity of the inferior surface of the clavicle medial or lateral
the costal tuberosity is medial ( remember –> coast as in mai - water )
what are the ligaments of the sterno-clavicular joint ?
sick :
s: sternoclavicular joint
i: interveraclavicular joint
c: costaclavicular joint - between the clavicle and the first rib
notice all the ligamanets end in clavicular
what is the name of the ligament that connects the clavicle to the first rib ?
the costaclavicular joint
pectoralis major
provides the aponeurosis of the external oblique muscle
pectoralis major
The pectoralis major includes :
Contains 2 origins :
The clavicular origin → medial / frontal part of the clavicle ( not lateral part)
The sterno- costal origin - covers the first 6 costal ribs
Insertion :
In the bicipital groove - the lateral end of it
Nerve supply :
Since its a large muscle , its innervated by 2 nerves :
Lateral pectoral nerve
Medial pectoral nerve
Actions includes : CAFA
Adduction
Medial rotation
Flexion
Flexion of the upper arm → caused by the contraction of the upper region
Flexion to the upper arm to bring back into resting position → sternocostal head.
pectoralis minor
Pectoralis minor summary :
Origin : the 3,4,5 rib
Insertion : into the coracoid process ( upper and medial portion)
Nerve supply : medial pectoral nerve
Actions : downward of the scapula , elevation of the ribs in forced inspiration, and forward of the scapula.
subclavicular muscle
The subclavicular muscle includes :
Origin : from the upper and anterior surface of the first costal rib through a rounded tendon
Insertion : into the subclavicular groove
Nerve : nerves to the subclavius originating from C5 and C6
Action : steady of the clavicle itself, act like a buffer and protect the nerves and the veins of that region
example of plane joint
acromioclavicular joint
intercarpal
examples of hinge joints
- ankle
- elbow
3 interpharngeal joints
keep in mind it allows extension and flexion only
( mnemonic hind is always half, minimal - she can only do extension and flexion but cant do adduction and abduction
pivot joints
atlanto-axial
radial-ulnar joints
ellipsoid joint
wrist joint
saddle joint
carpometacapel joint
condyloid joint
knee
ball and socket joint
shoulder and hips
which joints can move in all direction ?
SEB
Saddle
ellipsoid
ball and socket
uniaxial
phd : pivot and hinge
bi-axial
cute : condlyoid joint , elliposiod joint
multi-axial
SEB : saddle , ball + socket
