Boundaries and contents of the shoulder spaces
Quadrangular (or quadralateral) space
Lat border – shaft of humerus
Medial border – long head of triceps
Sup border – subscapularis (ant) teres minor (pos)
Inferior border – teres major
Contents – axially nerve and humeral circumflex vessels
Lateral triangular space
Superior border – teres major
Lateral border – shaft of humerus
Medial border – long head of triceps
Contents – radial nerve and profunda brachii artery
Medial triangular space (or interval)
Superior border – teres minor
Lateral border – long head of triceps
Inferior border – teres major
Contents – circumflex scapula vessels
What are the attachments of the coracoid process
tendons
conjoined tendon - coracobrachialis and short head of biceps
pec minor tendon
ligaments
coracohumeral
coracoacromial
coaracoclavicular
glenocoracoid
what is the course of the axillary artery?
Anatomy of axillay artery:
* subclavian artery -outer border 1st rib
* terminates - brachial artery outer border teres mj
* divides into 3 parts by the pec minor muscle
1st part - prox to pec min - 1 branch
- superior thoracic artery
2nd part - beneath pec min - 2 branches
- thoraco-acromial artery
- lateral thoracic artery
3rd part - distal to pec min - 3 branches
- subscapular artery
- anterior and posterior humeral circumflex arteries
Screw the surgeon save the patients
axillary vein - medial to artery along whole course
what are the anatomical structures?
6 – middle deltoid
8 – glenoid labrum
9 – greater tuberosity
10 – humeral head
11 - infraspinatus
15 – short head of biceps
16 – subscapularis
18 – biceps tendon
shoulder version?
Glenoid - 7 deg retroversion
head - 30 deg retroverted to shaft
scapular - 30 deg anteverted to coronal plane
