Anatomy Flashcards
1.
What are the 3 divisions of the trigeminal nerve?
Opthalmic
Maxillary
Mandibular
What does the opthalmic division of the sensory nerve supply?
Sensory supply of the soft tissues around the eye and upper face
What does the maxillary division of the trigeminal nerve supply?
Sensory supply of the upper teeth, the maxilla and middle area of the face
What does the mandibular divison of the trigeminal nerve supply?
Sensory supply of the lower teeth, the mandible and the lower area of the face, and motor supply to the muscles of mastication
What does the maxillary nerve lead to?
- Anterior superior dental nerve
- Middle superior dental nerve
- Posterior superior dental nerve
- infraorbital nerve
What does the anterior superior dental nerve supply?
Incisors, canine and their buccal gum
(3-3)
What does the middle superior dental nerve supply?
Premolars, part of 1st molar and buccal gum
(4,5 and 6mb)
What does the posterior superior dental nerve supply?
2nd and 3rd molars, part of 1st molar and buccal gum
(db6, 7 and 8?)
What are the upper nerves of the palate?
- lesser palatine nerve
- Greater palatine nerve
- incisive branch of nasopalatine nerve - exits through nasopalatine foramen
What does the incisive branch of nasopalatine nerve innervate?
palatal gum of incisors and canine
(3-3)
What does the greater palatine nerve supply?
palatal gum of canine, premolars and molars
What does the mandibular nerve lead to?
- Inferior alveolar nerve
- Long buccal nerve
- Mental nerve
- incisive nerve
- Lingual nerve
What teeth does the inferior alveolar nerve supply?
pre molars and molars
(4-8?)
What does the long buccal nerve supply?
Buccal gum of molars, teeth 6-8
What does the mental nerve supply?
Lower lip, chin and buccal gum of incisors, canine and premolars
(1-5)
