Anatomy Flashcards
Ureter
Tubes that connect the kidney to the urinary bladder.
Urinary Bladder
Storage for urine.
Urethra
Tube that allows urine to pass outside the body.
Prostate Gland
Located just below the bladder in men.
To produce fluid (semen) that nourishes and transports sperm outside the body.
Vas Deferens

Move sperm away from the storage place in the testicle.
Penis
Used for urination or sexual intercourse.
Located above the scrotum.
Scrotum
Located under the penis and has the shape of a sac and divides into two compartments.
Sac that contains the testis.
Testis (Testicle)
Make sperm and other hormones.
Glans Penis
Head or tip of the penis. The opening of the urethra is here.
This is where pre ejaculate and semen come out and urine.
Foreskin
Sheath skin that covers the head of the penis.
At birth fully attached to the penis and can be retracted (pulled back) later.
Seminiferous Tubules
Play a role in production of sperms and maintenance.
Epididymis
Long coiled tube that rests on the back of each testicle.
Carries and stores the sperm cells that testicles create.
Cowper Glands
A pea sized glands present inferior to prostate gland.
Produce thick clear mucus prior to ejaculation that drains into the spongy urethra.
Seminal Vesicles
AKA vesicular or seminal glands, are a pair of glands found in the male pelvis which function to produce many of the constituent ingredients of semen.
Perineum
Lies below the pelvic floor muscles (support bladder and bowel). Protects the pelvic floor muscles and the blood vessels that supply the genitals and urinary tract.
