Anatomy Flashcards
Recall the bones of the cranium (that LFY wants us to remember).
- Frontal
- Parietal
- Occipital
- Temporal
- Maxilla (top of oral cavity)
- Mandible (bottom of oral cavity)
Apart from the cranium, recall the other bones (that LFY wants us to remember).
- Clavicle
- Scapula
- Sternum
- Rib
- Humerus
- Radius (outside)
- Ulna (inside)
- Vertebrae (spinal column)
- Hip bone
- Femur
- Tibia
- Fibula
Name the 2 muscles where intramuscular injections are usually given.
1) Deltoid
2) Gluteus maximus
Name the major muscles of the body (that LFY wants us to remember).
- Buccinator
- Masseter
- Sternocleidomastoid
- Biceps brachii
- Triceps brachii
- Deltoid
- Pectoralis major
- Rectus abdominus
- Abductor longus
- Gluteus maximus
- Quadriceps femoris
- Biceps femoris
- Tibialis anterior
- Gastrocnemius
Name the 3 types of muscle tissue and additionally if they are
- Striated or non-striated;
- Voluntary or involuntary
1) Skeletal muscle
- Striated
- Voluntary
2) Cardiac muscle
- Striated
- Involuntary
3) Smooth muscle
- Non-striated
- Involuntary
Name the 3 different types of joints and examples of each
1) Fibrous joints
- E.g. between neighboring of skull bones
2) Cartilaginous joints
- E.g. cartilage plate linking hip bones
3) Synovial joints
- Between articulating bones
- Allow for higher degree of movement and flexibility
- E.g. elbows, knees, shoulders
Name the 4 major types of synovial joints, and examples of each.
1) Ball-and-socket joint
- Most flexible/mobile, but also higher risk of dislocation
- Shoulders, hips
2) Hinge joint
- Only 1-dimensional movement, but more stable
- Elbow, knee
3) Pivot joint
- Forearm (radioulnar)
4) Planar joint
- Intercarpal
