What is the greater omentum and what is its function?
It is an apron like fold of peritoneum that hangs down from the stomach. It is sometimes called the abdominal policeman because if something, such as the appendix, is inflamed, it will stick on and stop the spread.
What is the ligamentum teres/round ligament a remnant of?
The umbilical vein
What is the motor and sensory innervation of the diaphragm?
C3, 4, 5 keep the diaphragm alive. C3 and 4 innervate the skin in the neck as well so a pain in the diaphragm reflects in the shoulder.
Where is the lesser omentum located?
Between the liver and the stomach. It has a free edge that contains the bile duct.
What is the epiploric foramen?
It is an opening from the greater sac into the lesser sac (area behind stomach).
