Decreases the angle between body parts (e.g., bending the elbow).
Flexion
Increases the angle between body parts (e.g., straightening the knee)
Extension
Movement away from the midline (e.g., raising arms sideways).
Abduction
Movement towards the midline (e.g., bringing legs together).
Adduction
Rotates the limb towards the midline (e.g., toes pointing inward)
Medial Rotation
Rotates the limb away from the midline.
Lateral Rotation
Movement in a superior direction (e.g., shoulder shrug).
Elevation
Movement in an inferior direction.
Depression
Turning the palm up.
Supination
Turning the palm down.
Pronation
Lifting the foot upwards at the ankle.
Dorsiflexion
Pointing the foot downward at the ankle.
Plantarflexion
Turning the sole of the foot inward.
Inversion
Turning the sole of the foot outward.
Eversion
Bringing the thumb and little finger together.
