What is the correct anatomical position?
The subject should be standing with their head and eyes facing forward. Their arms should be by their sides, with their palms facing forward. Their feet and heels should be together.
What does the term “Superior/Cranial” refer to?
Anatomical structures that are located towards the head e.g. the neck is superior to the chest.
What does the term “Inferior/Caudial” refer to?
Anatomical structures that are located towards the feet e.g. the knees are inferior to the thigh.

Something that is further away from the body origin.
What does the term “Superficial” mean?
Something that is towards the body surface.

Something that is further away from the body surface.

Movement that is away from the body’s midline.
What does the term “Adduction” refer to?
Movement that is toward the body’s midline.
What does the term “Flexion” refer to?
Movement decreasing the angle between body parts.
