Where is the cranial cavity located?
The cranium or skull
- houses the brain
Where is the vertebral cavity located?
Along the spine
- encloses the spinal cord
Where is the dorsal body cavity located?
It spans from the cranial cavity to the vertebral cavity
Where is the thoracic cavity located?
The thorax or chest
- enclosed by the rib cage
Where is the abdominal cavity located?
The abdomen
- contains the digestive organs
Where is the pelvic cavity located?
The pelvis
- contains the reproductive organs
Where is the superior mediastinum located?
The thoracic cavity, above the pleural cavity
- the mediastinum contains the lungs and heart
Where is the pleural cavity located?
In the thoracic cavity, on either side of the pericardial cavity
Where is the pericardial cavity located?
In the thoracic cavity, within the mediastinum
What is the abdominopelvic cavity?
Consists of the abdominal and pelvic cavities
What is the ventral body cavity?
consists of the thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities
Left and right abdominal regions in descending order
Hypochondriac, lumber, and iliac
Middle abdominal regions in descending order
Epigastric, umbilical, and hypogastric
Abdominal quadrants
- Right upper (RUQ)
- Left upper (LUQ)
- Right lower (RLQ)
- Left lower (LLQ)
