Latin: ante = before ; in front

Latin: latus = side
Nearer the side
Medial
Latin: medius = middle
Nearer the median plane

Latin: di = apart. Stans = standing
Standing apart ; farther from a given point, usually the root of a limb

Latin: proxime = nearest
Nearer to the root of a limb
