Anterior/Posterior (front/back)

Superior/Inferior (top/bottom)
Medial (towards midline)
Lateral (away from midline)
Flexion (decreases angle between two parts)
Extension (increases angle between parts)
Abduction (movement away from midline)
hand/foot = spread out
Adduction (movement towards midline)
Hand/foot = closed together
Elevation (e.g. shrug shoulders up)
Depression (e.g. push shoulders down)
Pronation
Supination
Dorsiflexion (pointing ankle up)
Plantarflexion (pointing ankle down)
Inversion of ankle (rotate sole towards medial/inside)
Eversion of ankle (rotate sole towards lateral/outside)
Opposition (move thumb to little finger)
Reposition (move thumb away from little finger)
Protraction (‘reaching out for something’)
