Anatomic & Radiographic Terms Flashcards
Discussion of the path way of the central ray
Radiographic Projection
Refers to a specific body positions
Radiographic Position
The radiographic image as seen of the image receptor
View
Specific name of a projection or view, usually a name of the person who developed it
Method
Study of the patient positioning performed to radiographically demonstrate specific body on image receptors
Radiographic positioning
Patient’s anatomic parts , as produced by the action of xray on an image receptor
Radiograph
The process & procedures of producing a radiograph
Radiography
Device that captures the radiographic image
Image receptor
The center-most portion of xray beam that has the least divergence
Central Ray
Lying on the back
Supine
Lying face downward
Prone
Lying down w/ horizontal xray beam
Decubitus
Lying down in any position
Recumbent
Head lower than feet
Trendelenburg
Head higher that feet
Fowler’s
Lying on the left anterior side w/ tge right knee and thigh flexed and the left arm extended down behind back
Sim’s position
Knees & thighs are abducted and rotated externally, supported by ankle supports
Lithotomy Position
Describes body placement relative to the body part closest to the IR
Radiographic position
Describes the pathway of the xray beam as it enters & exits the patients
Radiographic projection
Vertical plane that divides the body into right and left regions
Lateral plane or sagittal plane
Divedes the body into equal left and right regions
Median / Midsagittal planes
Divides the body into unequal right and left regions
Parasagittal plane
