Anaphylaxis Flashcards
What is biphasic anaphylaxis
Another anaphylaxic reaction with out another exposure to the stimulus despite complete recovery with 72hours of the first exposure
What are the 5 things to consider when treating anaphylaxis
1) remove the trigger
2) give adrenaline
3) consider oxygen
4) dont sit or stand patient
5) consider fluid
What is refactory anaphylaxis
No improvement despite 2 appropriate IM adrenaline doses and efficient treatment
What antibodies activate mast cells and basophils to realise a histamine response
Antigen boind IGE antibodies
What is the does of adrenaline given
500 mcg
Where are alpha 1 receptors and how does adrenaline impact these?
Alpha 1 is in smooth muscle, adrenaline stimulates vasoconstriction reducing capiliary leakage, swelling, reducing the chance of cardiac arrest via relative hypovolemia
