What are the common causes of anaphylaxis?
A
- Nuts, fish, sellfish, sesame seeds and oil, milk, eggs, beans, peas
- wasp, bee sting
- abx, aspirin, other NSAIDs, opiates
- Latex

How would anaphylaxis present?
A
- Wheeze
- stridor
- Hypotension
- erythema, angio-oedema, itching of palate or auditory meatus
- pruritus
- rhinitis
- nausea
- urticaria
- conjunctivitis
- sense of impending doom

What are the differentials for anaphylaxis?
A
- life threatening asthma
- septic shock
- faint
- panic attack
- idiopathic urticaria

How would you rapidly assess for anaphylaxis?
A
- A: mouth/tongue for oedema
- B: chest wheeze, stridor
- C: pulse, BP
- D: unconsiousness
- E: Skin rashes

- Rapid A-E assessment
- High flow O2
- Lay pt flat
- Adrenaline IM
- establish airway
- IV fluid challenge
- Chlorphenamine
- Hydrocortisone
- Salbutamol. ipratropium, aminophylline, magnesium sulfate

What dose of Adrenaline will you give to adults and >12 yo?
A
- 0.5ml of 1:1000
- repeat after 5mins if no improvement

A
- 10mg IM

- 200mg IM
