Analysis Process Flashcards
First step in analyzing a circuit
Number each loop and letter each path in and out of a node
Determining the direction of flow
Look at the power source, always out of positive end, into negative end, will either be clockwise or counterclockwise in the loop
Use for the flow direction
1) Determines which paths lead current in or out of the nodes
2) Tells you which ends of a component are more positive or more negative
What do you do when all your loops and charges are labeled on your ciciut?
Begin with KVL,
All the voltages at each point in the loop are equal to zero
Basic circuit analysis proceedure
1) Find, known, Assumption, sketch
2) Label Loops
3) Label Nodes
4) KVL equations
5) KCL equations
6) Set voltages equal to the IR at those points
7) Use V=IR equations from above to assemble a matrix multiplication problem: [V]=[I]*[R], mindful of the dimensions of course
8) if nessisary, Rearrange with [x]^(-1) so that the unknown variable matrix is at the equals side
9) Use calculator to solve for the matrix of unknown variables
10) Use that value to complete the function for the quantity in question
11) Graph that function if nessisary
