A

Some Victorian scientists believed in the idea of a “criminal type”, they thought that persistent criminals could be identified by their physical attributes. Stevenson explores this idea by suggesting that Hydes wickedness displays itself in his physical characteristics. However, Stevenson ultimately rejects the idea of a “criminal type” by making Hyde part of the “respectable” Jekyll
