Diclofenac. What is it used for? Common side effects?Can it be taken with other meds?
Anti inflammatory medication.
Common side effect - heartburn.
Can be taken with other painkillers but not with
other anti-inflammatories, for example, ibuprofen, naproxen or ketorolac.
Naproxen
Naproxen is a medicine that reduces inflammation and pain
Amitriptyline
Amitriptyline is a commonly used for pain caused by damaged nerves. Can be taken with other pain killers.
Codeine.
Normal dose?
You can take 30mg to 60mg every four to six hours if needed for pain relief. You should not take more than 240mg in 24 hours.
Duloxetine - what is it used for?
Nerve pain.
Anti depressent
Gabapentin-what is it used for?
Gabapentin is commonly used for pain caused by damaged nerves. It can help with pain that is burning or shooting in nature.
Ketamine
Ketamine is occasionally used for pain caused by damaged nerves. It can only be prescribed by specialist doctors or nurses (pain or palliative care teams).
Morphine - name slow release and quick release.
Slow - MST® or Zomorph®
Quick acting - Oramorph® or Sevredol®
Oxycodone when is it usually used? Name slow and quick release.
Alternative to morphine.
Slow release: OxyContin®
Quick release: OxyNorm®
Pregabalin
Nerve pain ‘ shooting pain’
Also used as anti epileptic
