Anal Carcinoma is most commonly a squamous cell carcinoma; however, you can also get adenocarcinomas, lymphomas and melanomas of the anus.

Symptoms: Bleeding Pain Change in bowel habit -Incontinence Pruritis Stricture formation Mass Peri-anal Abscess
Risk Factors:
Anal Sex
HPV
HIV
Specific Questions to ask:
History of MSM sex or anal sex
Differentials: Crohns Perianal Warts Haemorrhoids Rectal Cancer

A
Imaging:
Examination under anaesthesia with biopsy
Staging CT
Special Tests:
Test for HIV

What is the treatment of anal carcinoma?
A
Excision - Small well-defined lesions
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy - All other cases
