Anaerobic And Aerobic Exercise Flashcards
What is anaerobic exercise?
When the body does not require oxygen to the muscles. It can only be used for short periods of exercise e.g 100m sprint.
What is aerobic exercise?
When the body requires oxygen to the working muscles because you are exercising for a long period of time. The energy is produced using oxygen. It makes full use of the respiratory system. E.g marathon runner
Equation for anaerobic respiration?
Glucose —
Equation for aerobic exercise?
Glucose + oxygen —
What is a first class lever ? And example?
Resistance , fulcrum , effort. Flexion of the elbow or throwing a javelin.
Second class lever? And example?
Effort, resistance , fulcrum . Plantar flexion at the ankle by gastrocnemius.
Third class lever? And example?
Resistance , effort, fulcrum. Bicep curl.
What is mechanical advantage?
Efficiency of lever, effort arm / resistance arm.
Effort arm?
Distance from effort to fulcrum.
Resistance arm?
From resistance to fulcrum.
What is a lever system?
A rigid bone that turns about an axis to create movement.
What is an axis?
Imaginary line through the body around which it rotates.
Longitudinal axis?
Head to toe
Transverse axis?
Through the hips
Sagittal axis?
Through the belly button
What is a plane?
Imaginary line depicting the direction of movement
Sagittal plane
Forwards and backwards
Frontal plane
Left or right
Transverse plane
Rotation around the longitudinal axis.
What is health?
A state of complete physical, social and mental well-being not merely the absence of disease.
What is fitness
The ability to meet or cope with the demands of the environment.
